The position of this Hummer is wings spread, and seemingly floating in mid air. The front side is highly detailed with feathers, and the reverse shows a climbing vine pattern, like the places where many of their food sources grow.

Hummingbirds have a long history of folklore and symbolism in native cultures. Some cultures see Hummingbirds as messengers to their ancestors or gods. Others see Hummingbirds as healers and bringers of love, good luck, and joy.

The colorful and energetic Hummingbird often symbolizes joy and playfulness, but these tiny birds can also be symbols of adaptability, resilience and perseverance. They must constantly gather food to maintain their high metabolism, and have developed fiercely protective strategies to ensure access to food sources.

Hummingbirds are known to migrate huge distances so they can spend the winter in warmer climates, since their bodies are so sensitive to temperature. In fact, Hummers even lower their heart rate while they are sleeping almost to a hibernation level, yet are able to revive every morning to gather nectar and hunt insects.

Hummingbirds may give you a clue that you need to be more flexible with all the changes in your life. Hummingbirds are erratic and they can shift positions very quickly. You can call on the energy of Hummingbird when you need to make swift decisions, or move in a seemingly random pattern that makes sense only to you. Quick action can often be an important tool in personal development.

These tiny creatures are beautifully colored and marvels of living engineering. No other animal can move its wings or limbs as fast, nor fly in so many different spatial positions. Their brilliant colors and aerial skills are a reminder of hope and joy in the world.

The charm is solid sterling silver, carved on both sides, and is 5/8 of an inch from wing tip to wing tip, and 1/2 of an inch from head to tail. Chain sold separately. Earrings available in the drop down menu.
