This unusual hinged pendant has multiple stones. The focal point is a large irregular square of Charoite. The patterning in the stone is reminiscent of Lotus Flower shadows on a twilight pond.
To emphasize this, sterling silver reeds and cat tails grace the edges, growing up from sinuous roots at the bottom of the setting. On the top of the Charoite, a series of stars dances across the edge, visible only to the viewer as you look down on the pendant.
The swing arm has wind and cloud spirals scattered with stars, and it encloses a large beautiful Rose de France amethyst trillion cut stone. The bright color of this gem is magnified by the openwork gallery of its setting, and a smaller square amethyst forms the join between the two swing arms at the top.
The large amethyst has a stylized lotus pierced out of the back, so that when worn with this side facing up there is a beautiful detail over the Charoite. Amethyst is thought to bring clarity and deep understanding to the wearer, and the lotus form is an ancient and almost universal symbol of the journey towards enlightenment.
The wild purple swirls of Charoite make it a favorite among gem lovers. Composed of up to seven different minerals, some only in trace amounts, this gem is universally thought to connect one to a higher emotional plane, opening up the third eye and crown chakras at the same time, and allowing for unprecedented insight.
The Charoite stone measures 1 & 1/8" long by 1 & 1/8" wide x 3/16" thick. The large amethyst is 3/8" x 3/8".
