This pendant is a hollow locket, which opens along an interlocking edge to reveal a long narrow space. The proportions of the interior are perfect for a small scroll of paper to be rolled up and placed inside. This allows the wearer to carry a daily affirmation or small poem with them, present, yet hidden from view. It is also possible to put lavender seeds or a small cloth with scent in the locket, for the raindrops are perforations throughout, and allow for airflow.

The imagery is taken from nature, and meant to represent the cycle of renewal. A massive tree has been blown down, trunk cracked close to the once strong base. The crown has fallen to the side, bare branches touching the ground. The moon empties raindrops on the scene, water as symbol, motion and element.

Yet where the branches touch the ground, and right by the base of the old tree, is a fresh young shoot come up towards the light. It represents our ability to withstand great and inevitable change, taking nourishment from the old, and starting anew.

This locket is hand carved all the way around, with a twist wire jump ring bail, which holds the two locket halves together. The side edges interlock, forming a seal between the two pieces. At the bottom is a simple figure eight and ball clasp, which holds the locket securely closed.

This pendant measures 2.25" long x .5" wide, x .25" thick. Its bail is large enough to take a 3mm chain or less. Please see the chains section for choices.
