The Heart side, which I call Spirit, is a reminder to give that emotional organ the space to be free, to open up and lift above the everyday, and to see the freedom and long range vision that is possible from on high.
The skeleton holding the clock is not meant to be scary, as it is so often protrayed in our culture. Instead, it is more closely related to the Mexican celebration of Day of the Dead, where skeletons are shown in humorous poses, or doing everyday things.
Here, I use the skeleton to remind us of our innermost core, the true foundation of all humans, the great equalizer of our very bones. The image is meant to help bring compassion and clarity to areas that some might see as dark and frightening. We can look at this essential component of our bodies with reverence and as a reminder to truly enjoy being alive. May it also remind us to be gentle with biological wonder that is our corporeal SELF.
