I made the original for this pendant by tearing up pieces of soft sheet wax, and pressing them together again. In some places you can see my fingerprints, in others you can see small gaps where I joined the pieces. Over all, the independent sections are clearly visible, even though they are merged in a whole.
I intended to reference human muscle with this piece; the very fiber of our inner bodies. Often when we move through difficult experiences, we say we are “torn”. Sometimes the effort seems like a strain so great the tissue might break. This can lead to tears, which we absorb with another kind of tissue. The pun adds another layer of meaning, and helps lighten the experience with humor. It is this process which actually builds strength, and allows us to continue on with renewed vigor.
This Sterling Silver pendant is hand textured on all sides. It features a dark antique finish, and has a bail opening of 4mm to take a larger heavyweight chain, or leather choker.
Pendant measures 1 1/16” x 1 3/16”
Shown on Oval Rolo chain. CHAINS SOLD SEPARATELY.
