The design of this Key shaped pendant is a flowing vine, with curving stems and leaves. It is a symbol of growth, flexibility and persistence. The natural surfaces of these particular Ruby Crystals, unpolished and straight from the Earth, have a texture that is not smooth or shiny, yet still glows with inner light. Their surface is almost grainy, which is a testament to their journey.
Despite their uneven surfaces, they still have the inherent six-sided Crystal symmetry, and a range of lovely strawberry hues. In certain lights they may appear almost wine colored, deep and rich. Yet when you hold them to a strong light, the Rubies glow with a translucent brilliance.
Metaphysically, Ruby helps define the concept of Tough Love, which refers to the emotional grit needed to stay with complex personal attachments, especially in the face of adversity. The concept of Love ranges far and wide, and can manifest in many subtle ways. Yet despite Love’s universal aspects, this deeply human part of us may get tested far more often than we like.
This challenge is one which draws us powerfully towards artistic symbolism. As we look at symbols from across human cultures, the idea of a Key becomes significant. This everyday object can help us unlock any barriers in our way, while also being a tool to enhance personal protection and safety.
Our essential inner light is sometimes overlooked in our rapidly changing world, especially if it is not recognized as precious. The Ruby is rare and special, yet in its raw state it is often unnoticed. Like this unpolished gem, our own pure nature is often unseen, even by ourselves. The Key to personal strength is to define our own value in a way of life which allow us to thrive as we truly are. The pendant is a symbol of personal reflection, value and ability.
