compass rose shows direction
stars in the dark of the night
find the path, stay on course
The Compass Rose symbolizes the miraculous discovery that a small sliver of iron could point the way to magnetic North. Although used for centuries to aid navigation in the dark or on cloudy days, this amazing natural phenomenon was first used in ancient China to guide human spiritual directions.
The patterns in the starry sky, which we call constellations, have different meanings but most ancient peoples knew of the North Star, and the shape of the Great Bear that pointed to it. It was easily recognizable, and one of the first tools of navigation.
The paired images on this pendant are meant to help you find the path you are looking for and stay on course.
