The word “Fehu” derives from the Proto-Germanic word “fehu,” meaning “cattle” or “livestock.” The Fehu rune signifies the process of gaining wealth, and the flow of prosperity. This rune encourages gains through work done and creative ambitions realized. Progress from well constructed planning ensures nourishment, stability and growth. Fehu calls for the appreciation of hard work and the creative energies necessary to create all forms of wealth.
Fehu belongs to the First Aett, which represents the cycle of life. These are the core aspects of human existence, and the necessary phases that each of us must experience during our journey through this life. These aspects of life can be taken literally, or they can be understood metaphorically to represent current forces and events. In this light, Fehu represents potential and fulfillment created by the support of a firm foundation.
The Norse Rune or "letter" featured on one side of my Runes is taken from a writing system called Elder Futhark. There are many explanations of this Norse writing system in both classical and popular literature. The image side of every Rune represents emotional attributes of its Nordic letter and are pictograms of my own creation. Each Rune description includes an etymological reference of historical origins well as modern meanings.
There are a total of 24 Elder Futhark Runes. They can be divided into three groups of 8 runes each. Each group of 8 is called an “aett” which has an several underlying meanings that can be shared by all 8 runes within it. The additional insight from the Aett formation can help clarify individual rune interpretations.
