In the Proto-Germanic language, Kenazepresents the sound “k” as in cat. Its shape resembles the flame of a torch. It brings illumination, turning darkness into light with creativity and radiant energy, pulling from the vast reservoir of collective knowledge. Kenaz stands for spiritual enlightenment and creative fire. As an inner voice, Kenaz can be a sudden idea which leads to the surprising solution of a problem. Kenaz makes the once hidden answer appear clearly, as in the light at the end of the tunnel.
Kenaz belongs to the First Aett, which represents the cycle of life. These are the core aspects of human existence, and the necessary phases that each of us must experience during our journey through this life. These aspects of life can be taken literally, or they can be understood metaphorically to represent current forces and events. As an illumination of life experience Kenaz can reacquaint us open understanding.
The Norse Rune or "letter" featured on one side of my Runes is taken from a writing system called Elder Futhark. There are many explanations of this Norse writing system in both classical and popular literature. The image side of every Rune represents emotional attributes of its Nordic letter and are pictograms of my own creation. Each Rune description includes an etymological reference of historical origins well as modern meanings.
There are a total of 24 Elder Futhark Runes. They can be divided into three groups of 8 runes each. Each group of 8 is called an “aett” which has an several underlying meanings that can be shared by all 8 runes within it. The additional insight from the Aett formation can help clarify individual rune interpretations.
These beautiful, handmade Rune Charms are heavyweight, with deep carvings on both sides of the Rune. Each Rune comes with a jump ring large enough to thread on a chain. The one shown is the 2.2mm Square Cable Chain.
Runes are solid Sterling Silver and measure approximately 5/8" high x 7/16" wide x 3/32" deep.
